string (n.): a thread that ties two things together.

Safety, built in, not bolted on.

Meeting someone new should feel good, not risky. Every date arranged through String carries a few quiet safeguards, most of which you'll hopefully never need to think about.

Check-in timer

Before a date, set a deadline. If you don't confirm you're safe by then, we text the emergency contact you chose.

Location, shared

Your emergency contact gets a link to where you are, for as long as you choose to share it, not a moment longer.

Photo moderation

Every photo you upload is screened before it's visible to anyone else.

Phone verification

Every account is tied to a verified phone number before it can match with anyone.

Reporting and blocking

Both are built in and easy to find. Accounts with repeated reports are frozen for review, not quietly ignored.

How the check-in works

One timer, one contact, one text if something's off.

A safety net, not a guarantee.

These tools are designed to reduce risk. They can't eliminate it. Phones die, signals drop, plans change. Tell someone where you're going regardless, and if you're ever in immediate danger, call emergency services. The full terms are in our Terms of Service.
