Terms of Service

String Dating Inc.
Last updated: August 30, 2026

These terms govern your use of the String mobile app and stringdatingapp.com. By creating an account, you agree to them.

Questions: support@stringdatingapp.com

1. Who can use String

You must be 18 or older. You must not have been previously banned from String. One account per person.

You are responsible for what you post and what you do on the app.

2. What String does

String matches you with a limited number of people at a time and helps you turn a match into a real date at a partner venue.

Two things follow from that design, and you should know them going in:

  • Matches are capped. You can hold a limited number of active matches at once.
  • Matches expire. A match that goes nowhere ends after a set period and is removed.

We earn revenue from venue partnerships. We do not charge a subscription.

3. Your account

You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. Keep access to that number secure — anyone who can receive codes on it can access your account.

Tell us at support@stringdatingapp.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.

4. Rules

Do not:

  • Lie about who you are, your age, or use photos that are not of you
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse anyone
  • Post sexual content involving minors, or anything sexually explicit
  • Solicit money, promote a business, or run a scam
  • Use String if you are under 18
  • Collect other users' information, or use automated tools against the service
  • Share another user's private information or messages without their consent

Breaking these rules can get your account frozen or permanently banned.

5. Safety features

String includes a check-in timer. If you start one before a date and do not confirm you are safe before it expires, we will text the emergency contact you have chosen.

These features are a convenience, not a safety guarantee. They depend on your phone, your signal, mobile networks, and third-party providers, any of which can fail. Do not rely on String as your only safety measure. Tell someone where you are going.

If you are in immediate danger, call emergency services.

You are responsible for choosing an emergency contact and for telling that person you have listed them.

6. Text messages

By providing your phone number, you agree to receive:

  • One-time sign-in codes, sent when you request them.
  • Safety alerts to your emergency contact, sent only if a check-in timer you started expires without confirmation.

We do not send marketing text messages. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, and you can remove your emergency contact at any time in the app.

7. Moderation, freezing, and banning

We review reports and may freeze or ban accounts.

A freeze is temporary and means an account is under review.

A ban is permanent. We do not restore banned accounts except where we made a mistake. If you believe your account was banned in error, write to support@stringdatingapp.com.

We do not tell you who reported you or what was said, and we do not tell a reporter what happened as a result.

8. Dates and venues

String suggests venues and helps you agree a time. We are not a party to your date.

  • We do not screen, employ, endorse, or vet other users beyond the moderation described above.
  • We do not guarantee anyone will show up, or that a venue will be open, available, or as described.
  • Anything you spend at a venue is between you and the venue.
  • What happens on a date is between you and the other person.

You meet other people at your own risk.

9. Tickets and payments

Where String sells tickets to events, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

Refunds are at our discretion unless required by law. Event cancellations are handled by the venue or organiser.

10. Your content

You keep ownership of your photos and what you write.

You give String a licence to host, display, and distribute that content within the app for the purpose of operating the service. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we are required to retain something under our Privacy Policy.

You confirm you have the right to post what you post.

11. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app. It is permanent.

We can suspend or end your account if you break these terms, or if we believe it is necessary to protect other users.

Some information survives deletion — see Section 9 of our Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimers

String is provided "as is." We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will find you a match.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, String Dating Inc. disclaims all warranties, express or implied.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, String Dating Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including anything that happens on or after a date arranged through it.

Our total liability to you will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.

14. Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

We would rather resolve problems directly. Write to support@stringdatingapp.com first.

15. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use String after that means you accept the change.
